27.1.2000 Okay so I want to apologize for not having written in a while, but things here are so wonderfully busy....that Ich habe nicht gunug Zeit.(no time). So here I am once again. Well things here are absolutely super and my German is coming along quite well. I spent Christmas with my host family..and I spent New Years with 6 Mexican Exchange students, a rotary couselor, his family, and a partridge in a pear tree. We had so much fun. At 12 I was so exited that I ran outside in the snow to see the fireworks, and forgot my shoes..causing me to not be able to feel my feet for a few minutes..but after they thawed out..I continued the festivities. I was going to go to Paris for New Years, but it was tooo expensive and toooo many people. If you remember Claudia Bottig though(I'm sure you do), ..she went to Paris..and saw other exchanges from last year such as Cecile Sourd, Katherine Monfort, and Benedict ( 2 yrs ago), Moritz Roy, and Kieran were also there. She said they haid a wonderful time..and brought back an entire roll of film just of the Eiffel Tower. Anyways so I stayed up till 7 a.m this time...(celebrated Americna New Year at 6, and of course Mexican New year at 7). Then I was completely exhausted..and fell asleep. So that was my holiday celebration summed up in a nutshell. The rest of my holiday was spent visiting wiht friends and family and ya know...stuff!!!! Now it's almost the end of January..and I had a pretty good first month of the new century. I went to my first ball here and it was so cool. It was in the casino in Baden( biggest casino in Europe) and EVERYONE was there. I actually danced a waltz or something and managed not to fall on my face. it was so cool. i signed up to take the ballroom classes that all the young people take here...starting in February. I have another ball in March and I can'T wait. And I finally learned the word for Dry Cleaner..seeing as my dress was a little "schmutzig" when I returned at 4 a.m. oooops I mean 11:30..like a good Rotary Exchange Student. No, but it was absolutely incredible and I can't wait until the next one. I change Host Families tomorrow..(I'm getting into that habit of capatalizing my nouns..since that's what they do in German, and it's strange when I write English..I just keep on capatilizing). I am moving to Baden...and I will have to say that I will miss my tiny town of 1500..and the rooster that wakes me up in the morning...but I know I'll be back to visit. My host father has already threatened me if I don't. So right now I am packing( a disaster) and my room looks like a disaster( no comment mother), but I think I'll manage to pull all together. Right now the weather here is let me see.....FREEZING!!!!!!! Is a good adjective, and the wind is absolutely horrendous. kind of reminds me of Hurricanne Season in Florida. But the days when the sun comes out..adn the snow is all pretty. are really nice. Well what else. I went on the rye6990 page today..and realized that the pictures on my site..are a little old....so I hope to send some new ones soon. And I've packed on a couple of kilos..so we want to keep those pics up to date and adequate..so ya'll can tell me to stop eating the CHOCOLATE!!!! But I have joined an aerobics class..and that's fun...so bring on the chocolate!!!!! Well I hope all is well in Florida..and I will be talking to ya'll soon. Tschüss!!!! Sincerely, Marie Lively |
