July 7,2000 Okay...so I just returned from the airport this morning the 7th of July. I went to say good-bye to my best friend from Mexico. Why doesn't anyone ever tell you how hard the good-byes really are. For me it is still not real that I will board a plane tomorrow morning and return to a life that was before the only one I ever knew.. Last night I sat in Vienna with my friend Daniel from Mexico, and my friend Veronique from Cananda all night long. The Vienna Film Festival is here in town and they had a huge celebration with a big movie screen in front of the Rathaus(City Hall)and stands with every type of food imaginable..even kangaroo burgers and ostrich kebabs. I realized last night truly how lucky I am to have been sent to the most perfect city in the entire world. There is one spot in Vienna where you can stand and see basically more beautiful buildings in one glimpse than I have ever seen in a lifetime. I am really going to miss this city..my family here and the friends I have made. I can't believe this year has finally come to an end. I knew it was going to happen sometime or another..but I just thought it never would come so fast. I have had the experience of my lifetime..and I thank you Rotary for putting this opportunity in front of my face..and I thank God for helping me embrace it. I will never ever forget one single moment as long as I live..and I can't wait until the day when I am able to return here. To beautiful Austria!! Ich Liebe diese Land als kein andere und es nie vergessen wird. Danke!! Danke!!! Danke!!! I will see you all soon. I leave tomorrow morning 9:40 a.m. This can't be happening. It's been all just like a dream..and now I have to wake up. But at least I had the chance to dream. Thank You. Bussi!! Alles Leibe, Marie Lively P.S. I'm never packing my life again..that was just too much. It took all Bottig sisters to help me close one suitcase.( And there's 4 of them!!!)..sisters,not suitcases. |
