A message from.... SABRINA in Germany |

How is Florida doing? Germany is great here. It is getting very cold. (Es ist sehr kalt.) It is autumn here in Germany and the leaves of the trees are all turning red and orange. The landscape here is very hilly and the house are all very nice. They are all new ever since War World2. There is a lot of rebuilding going on in Dresden and in other cities also. My school is great. You can't meet anyone if you don't talk to them first. So on the first day of school I said hi to everyone I met and introduced my self and now i have a lot of friends and they have invited me to go to the movies, shopping, and bowling, also to concerts. I've been to many concerts. All the concerts I've been to are all hard core. Most of the German teens like either techno or hard core. I have 15 classes. My schedule is math, english, geography, government, ethics, sports, astronomy, art, music, physics, biology, chemistry, history, german, and french. It is a little difficult for me to understand what they are talking about but I try to listen a lot. I have german lessons, one of my friends is teaching me and I can introduce myself in german and say little phrases once in a while. Well I can't pronounce the Ü and when I try to say green in german which is grün, everyone laughs, but then they coreect me. Everyone is very nice here. My class is always willing to help me with my german. My family is great. I have a 15 year old sister and a 9 year old sister. My parents are a lot of fun. I ride the ponies they have at least 2 times a week and I have fallen off of one of the ponies because he started to kick his hind legs. I've been to Italy with my class. They call it the Jungendherberge or youth hustel. I've also been to Gröbitz, Bautsin, and Dresden. Dresden is very beautiful and the buildings are very old and beautiful especially at night. The week I came to Germany I went to a rotary club and all the people there were all business men. We met at a restaurant and they all ordered beer. I had to introduce myself and tell them about Florida. They were all very interested and they asked me many questions about my family and how I found Germany. It is great to relax here. I like how everyone eats outside when it isn't cold. The whole family eats breakfast together. The first week I was very home sick and I sometimes fell asleep crying, but when I met the pupils in school I was very happy. It is hard to talk to some Germans because many are prejudice against foreigners. I have to watch who I talk to. I've also have gone mountain climbing in the Alps and i got to touch snow when we reached the top, we also went to Venice. It was a beutiful city. I went outside camping with some friends and we did a lot of art. It was great. Hope to hear from you soon. My address here in Germany is: Am Berge 3 01705 Freital, Germany Tschüss, Sabrina |
