Shanti's Report for April, 2000
I am doing fine. As you can see I am writing you from the address of Carlos Donoso. I am staying at his house while Andres' parents are visiting him in Miami. I am sorry that I havn't written in so long. I am having lots of fun. I really like it here, especially at my new house. I love living here. I am like the baby of the famliy and they treat me very good. I am very happy at the house of Carols Donoso and I asked him if I could live with he and his wife, since more than half my clothing is already here, and I feel so at home. He told me that he doesn't have a problem with it but he as to speak
with my old family first.
Well things have been going fine. I speak spanish very well now and I love it here. The sad part about it is that I have to start making plans to go home. I think that I will return home in May for my sister's gruaduation. But if I get to live here with Carlos and his wife I think I will go in June.
I am getting ready to go on the trip to the Galapagos Islas. I am very excited and plan to take lots of pictures. And maybe me and the other exchange student here will go to the coast for semana santa. That is next week. I would be very happy, because it is so cold here in Latacunga. It rains everyday and when it rains it get super cold. Can you believe that I have been sleeping with blankets since I got here? Some days we don't even see the sun.
Nothing has been happening in the months that I didn't write. Honestly I was bore out of my mind. All I did was go to school and go home. Since I changed my school I now study at 12pm to 6:15pm. I do hate the time, but I have gotten used to it. And I didn't have time to do anything. I really live far out of town and it takes about half hour to walk into town, so I never went anywhere. So I only saw my family every day. Now I am at Carlos' house and he lives like 2 minutes from everything, after school I get to see my old friends and I get to see poeple my own age. Before it was just my
sister and brother. I had no one my own age. Now I am so much happier.
